Q*Bert

I won Q*Bert for $0.01 + $2.50 shipping earlier today. I had forgotten that I had bid on it until this morning. Pretty good stuff. I think it was luck though. We should see how lucky I am by trying another one cent game (like the Commando I'm watching). We'll just have to wait and see how much my paycheck is tomorrow. That brings me to 79 games.

Monster Party

Quick update just to let you know that I won Monster Party for $3.75 with free shipping. Found it using the "I'd Buy That For A Dollar" feature on http://www.videogamepriceguides.com. I'm also bidding on a Q-Bert game that I am currently winning for $0.01 with $2.50 shipping. That auction ends tomorrow about this time. My max bid is $0.50, so I wont be surprised if I lose that one. I'm watching a Commando that is going for $0.01 with $2.50 shipping and Mega Man 4, 5, and 6 that is $19.99 with $3.99 shipping. Don't know if I will actually bid on those, depending on what my paycheck looks like this Friday.

My awesome lot arrived!

Can you guess what's in the box?

That's right, NES games! My lot finally arrived! It took about as long as I expected for being sent media mail, but the tracking number never seemed to update so I was getting worried that it got lost or something! The games required very little cleaning and they are in PERFECT condition (except for the one I accidentally roughed up with the box cutter... ha ha ha). I tested them and they all work just fine. I think I'm going to save the seller and see what other goodies he might come up with.

So now my collection is up to 78 games, going to have a mini-celebration when I get to 100! Did you know that I'm only, like, 12% complete? That seems so wrong, but makes sense when there is approximately 690 (including the Tengen games I want to collect as well). Getting to 100 games will only put me at 14%! If only I were rich and could afford more games... :)

Slow in the gaming world

I know it's been forever since I've posted anything. I'm still waiting on my lot to arrive. Boo on media mail. My tracking number still only says that it left Atlanta, GA on 7/22/09. So who knows. I was very pleased with the seller because they shipped it right when they said they would and seemed very happy with my business (of course, I spent $30 on some old video games)! Lets just hope that when they arrive they are in good order and they all work. If so, I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this seller. Apparently the person likes to thrift store hop and pick up whatever goodies they want to sell, so he comes across NES games every so often.

In other random news, I got a message on Facebook from some person who apparently scoured the internet trying to find some videos of my Guitar Hero skills. They said they saw my scores on TwinGalaxies.com and was interested in seeing videos. Too bad the only thing I have on youtube is just random Guitar Hero stuff, not any of my world records. Oh well. I just thought it was funny and made me feel a little happy.

I watched a video of someone doing a speed run for Nuts & Milk for the Famicom, and they beat it in 14:17! So I decided, what the heck, I'll try playing it. And I sucked. It didn't help that my character didn't always jump when I hit the jump button and that I haven't played that game in ages, but definitely no good. The joys of the Super Joy controller. I should go back to Yoshi's Cookie.. or maybe Mega Man 2 and actually beat the darn game!

Anyway, that's all the news I have for now. I'll make sure to post my games up when I get them.

Mega Man 2... again...

I think I did it right this time. you'll have to excuse the poor audio and color. I don't know what happened, but at least you can see it without freezing this time. It's in four parts, so make sure to watch all of them! :)

(BTW: I don't beat the game, just so ya'll know)

I did it!

I bought that lot of 12 games for $30! I feel good, I have only 2 out of the 12 in my collection already, so I'm going possibly do a trade. Don't know yet though. The seller said they were going to ship the games tomorrow morning, so I'll keep my fingers crossed! He doesn't have too many NES games, but I just might keep an eye on that seller and try to get more good deals out of him. Everything he lists he put as a best offer deal (at least for the NES stuff).

I also went to Game Stop today and got myself a few games. I picked up DDR Max, Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2, and Crazy Taxi. They were buy 2 get 1 free, so I got Crazy Taxi for free. I suppose this will probably be all my games for the next few weeks, but I can't complain since I'm getting 10 new ones in the mail sometime soon.

Anyway, sometime this weekend I will record Mega Man 2 again for you all to see since it didn't record right last time. And this time I'll pass Crash Man's level! Maybe beat the game! That would be awesome since I have never done that before AND I can't recall ever beating an NES game before in my life! So it will be exciting! :)

Mega Man 2 Game Play

There you have it. I gave up because that stupid part on Crash Man's Level pissed me off. Rawr!

EDIT: So, someone else discovered that the video freezes at about 6:30 into the video but the audio continues. I will record again, but leave the video I have up for now. Maybe I'll just record it in segments of the levels I complete. That would be a lot of videos, but I don't want it freezing again! Sorry about the stupidity of my computer.

PayPal Dispute Closed

That's right, it finally closed. And guess what? The seller never responded to communication from PayPal, so I automatically got my full refund AND got to keep the defective game! Whoo hoo! So now I have $7.95 sitting in my PayPal account, burning a hole in my virtual pocket.

I put an offer on a lot of 12 NES games for $25 (S&H is only $4.15), and the seller sent a counter offer of $30. The games included are: Disney's The Little Mermaid, Spot, Paperboy 2, Championship Bowling, Disney's Chip 'N Dale Rescue Rangers, Casino Kid, Kirby's Adventure, Wheel Of Fortune, Anticipation, Balloon Fight, Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, and Marble Madness. I have Anticipation and Kirby's Adventure, but that would be 10 more games to my collection! And it averages out to about $2.85 a game! It's a good deal and I really want to accept, especially considering it would really only be about $26 out of my pocket (cause I already have the $7.95 in my PayPal account). I'll sleep on it and see. I mean, Some of those games are worth quite a bit so it would definitely be a deal.

I got an invitation for this thing on eBay for eBay Bucks. Apparently I can earn up to 2% rewards (free money in my PayPal account) if I purchase certain qualifying items. It's free, don't really have do anything other than accept the invite (which I already did). The only downfall is that it comes as a virtual gift certificate and the money expires after a period of time. I probably should have read up on it more, but free is free. If I don't ever use it, oh well. And if I do, great! I wonder if this invite went out to everyone or if I'm just special like that.

I am going to record some game play of Mega Man 2 (that I got as an early Birthday gift) later on this evening, so don't forget to check here later on. But first, I got to eat some food. Hungry.

My lot of 3 games

My lot of 3 games arrived today. Took a bit to get here, but not that bad. As you can see, the games are in decent condition. I was a bit shocked when I saw that Big Bird's Hide and Speak has stickers on it, but looking at the auction photo, the seller conveniently cut off that part of the game so you couldn't tell they were there. Boo on that, but they came off just fine. Also, the back of NES Play Action Football has writing on the back. It shouldn't be a problem to get off considering it still looks, I dunno, fresh. The handy whiteboard marker trick should solve that problem. Milon's Secret Castle is fine, with only a few stuffs on the back of the game. I tested all the games and they work fine too.

I was actually somewhat surprised by Big Bird's Hide and Speak. The graphics aren't too bad and the voices aren't pretty decent for an NES game. I was disappointed that all the games had the same background and the same characters (except for Bert & Ernie switched out on some of the games). I know it's a kids game, but it could have been a little more awesome with a little variety.

I was lost when playing Milon's Secret Castle. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, and I got stuck in a room and couldn't get out of it. At that point I just shut the game off cause I got irritated. My character shot some bubbles and some bad guys, and I randomly discovered that you can shoot some blocks to get money and other items. I hit all the buttons and there was no way to select any items so I guess they were just points. I think I'll have to investigate this game and try it again.

NES Play Action Football was just dumb. I don't like sports games so that tainted the experience from the beginning, but still. The voices were better in Big Birds game than in this game. And everything was so generic. I guess I'm being a little over-critical about the game, but I didn't enjoy it at all. But hey, it's added to my collection.

So that's all my pending games. I'll see what comes my way in the future.

Yay for the mailman!

He brought me goodies. They both are very good shape. Burgertime had to be cleaned, like, 4 times but it got clean. To The Earth wasn't too bad to clean. I'm terrible at Burgertime but it's fun to play. I'm sure with practice I could do better. Now for To The Earth... that game is weird. It's a game where you have to use the zapper. Space ships come flying at you and you have to shoot them and the stuff they throw at you. You don't really have to shoot all the ships, but you definitely have to shoot the things they throw at you. Other things that look like they're supposed to help hurt you. So, just a game for the collection. Not my type of game.

Speaking of weird games, I finally tried out the Action 52 unlicensed game on the emulator on my DS. Man, those games are STUPID. Most of them don't make any sense whatsoever, and you have no clue what the point is in most of them. It was making me so crazy cause I just wanted to play the games but they were RETARDED. I'm so glad I'm not collecting the unlicensed stuff (except for probably Tengen games), cause that was just utter garbage.

So the only thing that's pending now is my lot of 3 games and the result of my dispute with PayPal.

Yoshi's Cookie and PayPal

I got this game in the mail yesterday. It was in perfect shape, and arrived in a timely manner (won the game on 6/27/09 and received it 6 days later, not too shabby). I have never played it before, but managed to get to the 2nd round before losing. It's kind of fun. I've always been a fan of puzzle games, so this will fit nicely with my collection.

I also escalated my claim with PayPal. I should have escalated it the moment I opened it, but oh well. So now that seller has 10 days to respond (now down to 9 days), or else PayPal will settle the case. More than likely the seller will not respond and I will get my full refund. I'm not too excited about this whole ordeal, but getting a refund means some money to eBay with. I have $0 to play around with this paycheck due to rent, but that's alright.

So I have a few days until I can expect any more games in the mail due to the holiday, so maybe I just play some more games.

Happy Independence Day everybody! Be safe, eat lots of BBQ, and make sure to not blow up anything important!

Fun with Ebay

So now that I'm back in the groove of some eBay-ing, I've won myself a few games today! First game I won was To The Earth for 1 cent! That's right, I won the auction for 1 cent, but let's not forget the $2.99 for shipping. Still though, that's a steal from eBay! $3.00 for a game! Whoo hoo! I also had a best deal going for Burgertime which I finally won today. The original buy it now was for $9.99 or best offer, free shipping. I sent a first offer for $5.99 and let them know to send me a counter offer if mine was not acceptable. They replied with a counter offer of $7.99. I replied with a counter offer of my own for $6.99 stating that I had found other buy it now offers for that price, but I would rather buy from them because they had a good review at videogamepriceguides.com. And what happened? I got an email today stating that I had won the game! HA HA HA, I'M SO AWESOME! Actually, I'm not too awesome because that was suggested by someone else, but it worked and I'm taking some of the credit for it!

So that leaves me with a few games waiting to come in the mail now: The lot of 3 games (Big Bird Hide and Speak, Milon's Secret Castle, and NES Action Play Football), Yoshi's Cookie), To The Earth, and Burgertime. Lookit me, building up my NES collection now! Whooo hooo!

And on a side note, I tried playing Donkey Kong 3 on my NES today (my second time playing this game EVER), and I totally suck at it. So aggravating when I shoot that big bee, or whatever it is, and it kills me because it's body parts fly everywhere! ARGH!! I need to go back to Dr. Mario, at least I'm decent at that... :P
